Brut

Le Marchesine NV Franciacorta Brut DOCG $25.49

The Franciacorta D.O.C.G. Brut is an assemblage of Chardonnay, Pinot Bianco and Pinot Nero. At harvest, the grapes are hand picked and placed into small boxes. The whole grapes the under go a very slow and soft pressing. Fermentation occurs with indegenous yeasts in order to maintain the flavors and the aromas. After the fermentation the wine is placed in stainless steel tanks. During the months of March and April the wine is bottled and then process to induce the sparkling occurs. The bottles are the bulk stored in temperature controlled areas for at least 24 months, During this period of time, the Franciacorta Brut develops and assumes its characteristics of flavor and aromas together with the finest and smallest bubbles. The wine is ready for the final stages "remuages disgorgement, dosage and labeling".

The color is yellow with a tinge of green. The bubbles are fine and persistent. The bouquet is full of freshly-cut green apple, caramel and toasty yeastiness. The bone-dry finish is elegant and flavorful.

 

     
Le Marchesine NV Franciacorta Brut Rose` DOCG $33.99

The Franciacorta D.O.C.G. Rosè Brut is a blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Nero grapes. Its fine pinkish color is due to a constant maceration of the skins. It is produced exactly as the Brut with the exception that the Rose` is aged for 36 months before the final stages.

The color is pale copper, similar to that of an onionskin. The froth is white and the stream of bubbles presents a very thin and persistent grain. The bouquet scents of flowers (wild rose) and of small fruit with red berries (raspberry). The flavor is delicate and compact and finishes with a rich creaminess.
